Mall unit
This was a project for my grade 11 interior design class, that I took when I was in grade 10. I was given a retail space in a mall and was to design a company and store layout for the unit.
The store I designed sells a variety of things, including T-shirts, books, records, CD’s, posters, and other little things. The target audience is people in their early teens to late twenty’s. The colour scheme is red, greys, and blacks, to give the store a young and interesting feeling to those who walk in. As well as, having black and dark grey furniture such as shelving and organization will help to make the product being sold stand out more, as CDs, Books, record covers, and shirts tend to be quite colourful. There is also posters covering the empty spaces in the walls, not only to display the posters being sold, but also to attract the target audience that would be interested in the different content featured on the posters.
The shelves in the center are about three feet tall, so that people can see over them, which helps with customers being able to see over shelves, as well as employees being able to see over and prevent theves. The shelves are in horizontal rows between the cashing area and the front door, so that they are easy for customers to navigate, There are then book shelves along the left wall, and a tshirt display with shelving below on the right wall. There is also a window display to the left of the entrance that features different things in the store, or new items that have just been introduced and are now being sold.
