Abstract Landscape

My first abstract painting! I had to do this for my painting class, and wasn’t totally thrilled about it. We started by doing 10 pleinare water colour’s, and then had to pick one to make into an abstract landscape. This was my first abstract piece, so I wanted to just have fun with it, and decided to try a new technique as well, which is palette knife painting. I mixed acrylics with baking soda to make them thicker and matte, an then started smushing them on. I found this technique very fun and strangely therapeutic.
