Aquamarine

This piece is a 2x2’ acrylic painting on Masonite, that I made for my painting class. We made this while learning about the technique of hard edge painting, which was an approach to abstract art in the 60’s. We had also been practicing colour matching, and how to mix colour’s using only red, blue, yellow, black, an white, and the different values of colour.

I specifically chose an aquamarine gem for a personal purpose, as I gave this painting to my mom when it was finished, and aquamarine is her birth stone.

This piece took about 5 hours a day for 6 days, and was very fun to make. Attached are the final result and the refrence.
