Pop Art Mural

A collaborative piece by a group of artists.

Our concept

This piece was made and designed with the intention to be hung in our school cafeteria. We designed it to bring life to the space, as the pieces that were already there at the time are dull, with a lot of neutrals and desaturated colour’s, and our team felt the space needed something bright and joyful.

Our original theme was ‘soda commercial’, It is meant to remind people of those old coke ads from the summer, without inherently looking like one.

It was painted from mid December 2022-mid January 2023, and has received overwhelming enthusiasm since it has been up in the caf.

The Process

This piece was made over the span of about a month, with an average of 4 hours every weekday, if not more. Our group of artists put incredible dedication into the making of this piece, and I personally think it shows in the end result. To the left, you can see some progress photos from the time we were painting this, as an insight to how we did things, and the process of creation.

There were some hiccups along the way, with designing what we wanted, and as it was a piece for the school there were quite a few restrictions on themes, and subject matter that we had to work around. However we are all quite pleased with the overall result
