Bowie on Wood

Done in February of 2024, this project was a focus on the technique of hatching, and doing black line art. I chose to do david bowie because this was just a fun piece for me, and I was really into his music at the time. This project was weird for me because its one of the oly times that i actually like the thumbnail better than the finished project. I’m very used to sketching in pen, and I enjoy doing portraits in with hatching in ballpoint pen, as shown. However i found that when trying to do that on the final on wood with marker it was a lot different. The wood didnt have as much absorbancey and grit as my sketchbook paper does, and the ballpoint pen has a much different weight and mechanic than markers do.
