Untitled (chest piece)

I made this piece for my painting class, an it was a bit of a first for me. we had to paint something on an unusual surface, something that isn’t typically painted on, and what we painted had to directly correlate to what we painted on.

I chose to do a piece about the transgender experience, and so i did took an old bra, and painted a mans chest with top surgery scars on it. This was my original concept, and then to be able to make it a full cohesive piece, i painted a woman’s crotch on men’s boxers. this was to signify that undergarments and what people wear aren’t indicative to what is underneath.
